The lights still flickered above my shivering body as I entered the store. "Hey Melody!" "Are you ok?" my dear fried Nate asked me. "I'm fine." I replied solumnly. Me and Nate have been friends since the fifth grade. We first met when he was walking in the convience store and he saw me running down the street and decided to run after me. He's honestly the only one who cares about my situation and decides to help and visit me in the hospital even though he has his own problems to deal with and handle being an orphan and all. "Do you need to stay with me?" he asked. When did he get an apartment? He always stayed in an orphanage. I guess he got one by himself for cheap since he started working here. "Where?" I asked, wanting to confirm my assumptions. "My boss has an apartment below his house and he offered a half of my check every month kind of offer and i accepted." "Again I ask, do you need somewhere to stay?" he pressed on. "No, I will be fine." I replied calmly. "No, I know how you are and whenever you say you're fine, something's worng." "Plus, you have your suitcaseand your bag so I am assuming that you're mom kicked you out." he said, stoping abruptly to breathe. "No fighting back, you're staying with me and no complaining either." he said. "I guess I cant refuse this offer" "It's better than living on the streets" I replied while smiling happily towards his direction. Emotions overwhelmed me and I began to cry. Salty tears ran down my pale, cold face as I stared at him. I then leapt over the counter full of objects that lie scattered and jumped into his arms. He caught me at first but then we both toppled to the floor with two stands full of books that we caused to fall from our combined weight. Nate's boss ran into the shop from the back to see what had happened because of all the noise. "Nate are you ok?" he asked while looking around frantically. He popped up behind the counter with an unbelievably shocked face. I can imagine why since his most trusted employee was behind the counter, covered in books with a crying girl in his arms that he kept pressing closer and closer into his chest. "No personal display of affection in the convenience store Nathan." he said while giggling playfully. "Woa woa woa woa woa there!" I yelled as I jumped up off Nate to protest against his words. "No........" Nathan said as well. He sounded a little disheartened. "We're just friends." he said as he carefully picked the books up off the floor. "Sure you two are" his boss said refusing to believe Nate's previous words. "I'm Cory, Nate's boss." "Nice to meet his girlfriend" he said outstretching his hand towards me. I laughed in a cute manor and shook his hand. "Nice to meet my new room mate." I cheered. "Oooh big boy's bringing his girl home." "You want me to leave for the weekend?" he asked while laughing along with me.
